Where you focus your energy will flow. If you focus on the small things, the noise and the distractions then that is where you will put energy often at the expense of more important items.
Paying attention to what draws your focus away from important items will help you identify strategies to better manage your time and keep you focused. A simple strategy like setting a time limit on putting attention on lower priority items will enable you to feel as though you have eliminated some noise to help you focus better on higher priority items.
Everyone gets distracted in some way throughout the day irrespective of their level of ‘discipline’. Being aware of when you distracted and getting yourself back on track is the key to being focused.
Perhaps you need to get further clarity around what constitutes a high, medium or low priority ensuring you have categorised items in alignment with expectations others have around what is or is not important.
Sometimes all it takes is 5 minutes of stretching or 1 minute of breathing or 15 minutes focus on low priority items to help you get back into flow on higher priority tasks.
