Each of us have certain strengths in capability and areas where we know we know we don’t perform as well. Having a growth mindset means that you have a realistic view of what you are and are not capable of doing and a willingness to want to improve and enhance your capabilities. You view limitations as opportunities for growth and actively target areas that would benefit from improvement, especially where those areas would assist you in achieving your outcomes.
There are many ways in which we can grow. Perhaps you need to adjust your attitudes or beliefs and try our something new to see what impact it has on the decisions you make. Maybe you need to expose yourself to new situations, perhaps even challenging situations, to tap into untapped capability and resources. Or perhaps you need to seek out formal training to receive new information or to broaden and deepen your knowledge and expertise.
I invite you to challenge yourself to identify all the ways in which you may need to grow to help you move towards the outcome you desire.
Make a list that includes any new attitudes or beliefs you may need to form, ways in which you might need to think differently, new information you may need to seek out education or materials from which to learn, and experiences you may need to expose yourself to in order to test out your capabilities.
